The Drops of God (also known in Japan as Kami no Shizuku) is based on the wine-themed drama manga series written by Tadashi Agi and drawn by Shu Okimoto. It began in Kodansha’s Morning seinen magazine on November 18, 2004 and concluded on June 12, 2014. A total of 44 tankobon volumes were released in Japan. Kodansha USA publishes the manga series in English.
The manga inspired two sequel manga series, which include 2015’s Drops of God: Mariage (which has been released in English digitally by Kodansha USA) and another short series in 2023.
The series also inspired a Hulu original live-action series, which is a French-Japanese production. A second season premiered on Apple TV+ in January 2026.
Crunchyroll licensed the anime series for streaming in select countries and territories worldwide.

Pony Canyon describes the main synopsis of The Drops of God anime as:
World-renowned wine critic Yutaka Kanzaki has passed away, leaving behind a wine collection worth over 12 billion yen. His will states that his collection will be given to the one who can identify the origin and year of twelve wines he’s chosen, the “Twelve Apostles”, and one that’s superior even to them, “The Drops of God”.
Competing for the prize are Yutaka’s son, Shizuku, who received a world-class education in wine but rebelled against his father and has never drank a drop, and Issei Tomine, a young charismatic wine critic whom Yutaka had recently adopted as his son.
