Southern Gothic horror-comedy THE HOODOOS will officially host its red-carpet film premiere at the Historic Manship Theatre inside the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on August 14th at 7:30 PM. Based on the pulse-pounding novel of the same name, this highly anticipated supernatural feature film from filmmaker Sean-Michael Argo blends high-stakes heist action with dark, regional folklore. Audiences can now get a first look at the bayou-born nightmare by viewing the newly released official trailer, available now online.
The story follows an elite crew of criminals recruited by a mysterious crime lord known only as “The Captain” for a lucrative heist deep in the Teche bayou. Their objective is to breach a long-abandoned plantation house and escape with thousands of hidden Confederate gold coins. However, the treasure is locked behind ancient, deadly Vodoun spells that no self-respecting local practitioner will touch. Desperate to crack the supernatural security, the crew drags along a low-rent voodoo influencer at gunpoint to bypass the magic, only to find themselves trapped with a terrifying entity waiting in the dark.
The feature film showcases a vibrant indie ensemble cast that includes Celeste Blandon, Sean-Michael Argo, Garrett Andrew Ahrens, B. Dave Walters, and Ashton Leigh. Together, they bring the eccentric heist crew and the surrounding supernatural forces to life against a classic Louisiana backdrop.
