Prime Video has provided Dread Central with even more first-look images from its upcoming Original series Carrie, its bold new adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic debut novel from showrunner Mike Flanagan.
They also provided official new details:
Premiering this fall, the eight-episode series reimagines the classic coming-of-age horror story for television for the first time. It follows misfit teenager Carrie White (Summer Howell), whose sheltered life is upended after the death of her father forces her into public high school. As she endures a viral bullying scandal, the pressures of social media, and the cruelty of her classmates, Carrie begins to awaken mysterious telekinetic powers.
Summer Howell stars as Carrie White after beating out more than 1,000 actors for the role. The cast also includes Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Flanagan writes and executive produces the series, while also directing four episodes. Stephen King serves as an executive producer.
First published in 1974, Carrie launched King’s career and has sold more than 350 million books worldwide across his body of work. Brian De Palma’s landmark 1976 film adaptation became an Academy Award-nominated classic, with 2026 marking its 50th anniversary.
