Manga Mavericks Books has announced the license acquisition of three new manga titles during its panel at Anime Expo 2026. All three titles will be released in print and digital format throughout the first half of 2027.
Here are the details on the publisher’s newest licenses:
Motionless

Motionless is a standalone manga volume published in Japan by TWO VIRGINS. Manga Mavericks Books will publish the manga in an A5 (5.83″ x 8.27″) size and it will be printed in color, similar to the original Japanese release.
Synopsis:
Make merriment, myth, and more while motionless.
Illustrated by Quick Obake, known in Japan as the mangaka who pioneered “GIF Manga” in which characters move between panels, this collection of short stories perfectly encapsulates all of life’s fun little eccentricities.
Simple artwork belies outrageous stories with a motion all their own. From building a ladder to the moon to going on an adventure for tasty ramen, kicking back and getting motionless has never been more fun.
The Sword of Paros

The Sword of Paros was originally published as a three-volume manga in 1986. Manga Mavericks Books’ release of the manga will also mark the first time that Yumiko Igarashi’s work is released in English in a print format.
The series will be printed in a larger JIS B5 (7.2″ x 10.1″) size in a deluxe hardcover omnibus, which features a spot gloss cover and sprayed edge design.
The release will also include original color pages from the manga, including previously lost color pages from older releases of the manga, that have been recently recovered and restored by Igarashi, Fairbell, and the Manga Mavericks team.
Synopsis:
The legends that speak of the Sword of Paros say that it can bestow either prosperity or ruin on its kingdom…depending on the heart of its wielder.
The kingdom’s current princess, the beautiful yet resentful Elminia, laments being treated as a soulless tool simply for being born in a woman’s body.
Accompanied by Count Yulias, Elminia rides as far away from the kingdom’s politics as possible. One day, Eliminia meets a beautiful young girl named Fiona, and their lives and the kingdom are changed forever.

The manga is published by HERO’S INC in Japan and originally started serialization in 2011. Manga Mavericks Books’ release of the series will be the first time in over 20 years that any of Shimamoto’s manga has been released in English.
Hero Company will be released in a 2-in-1 omnibus format in an A5 (5.83″ x 8.27″) size with a dust jacket cover.
