Japanese Singer Yuuri Performs Main Opening Theme for Thunder 3 Anime Series

Japanese singer-songwriter Yuuri is performing the main opening theme song for the upcoming Thunder 3 anime series with the single “Thunderbolt.” The anime will begin streaming on Netflix on July 8, 2026

Yuuri’s “Thunderbolt” will be released digitally worldwide on July 10, 2026 on several music streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify. The announcement was made during a panel for Thunder 3 at Anime Expo 2026

Listeners in Japan and the U.S. who pre-save or pre-add the single on Spotify or Apple Music will also receive an exclusive downloadable signed Yuuri promotional artist image.

It was previously announced that the anime’s ending theme will be “Shururerira” by Japanese singer otoha.  

Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin: Demin-Human chief director, Blame! and KamiErabi GOD.app director) is directing the anime series, with Hiroshi Seko (Witch Hat Atelier, Rooster Fighter) as series composer. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast include: 

  • Sayumi Suzushiro as Pyontaro
  • Natsumi Kawaida as Tsubame
  • Eri Akiyama as Hiroshi
  • Honoka Mitsubachi as Futaba

Yuki Ikeda’s manga series ran in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine from May 6, 2022 to June 5, 2026. Eight tankobon volumes have been published in Japan as of January 2025, with a ninth volume set to be released on June 16, 2026.

Kodansha USA licensed the Thunder 3 manga for English print and digital release, describing the main synopsis as: 

Pyontaro is a middle schooler whose little sister, Futaba, simply adores him. One day, he and his buddies—the so-called “Small Three”—decide to watch a weird disc their teacher lent them. Little do the boys realize this disc is linked to another universe…and while they aren’t looking, Futaba gets sucked in! Can Pyontaro and his friends find Futaba? And just what is this other world they’ve discovered?!
