After the film’s story wraps up, audiences are treated to the unexpected return of Alyssa Sutherland, reprising her unforgettable role as Ellie from Evil Dead Rise. The brief stinger doesn’t tie directly into the events of Burn itself, nor does it reveal that Ellie has secretly been pulling the strings behind the film’s Deadite outbreak. Instead, it plays more like a fun little button to send fans home with a smile… or maybe a shiver.
The scene suggests that Ellie’s story isn’t necessarily over, with the Deadite mother making one last appearance to remind audiences that evil has a habit of refusing to stay dead. It’s a fitting capper for a franchise built on the idea that no victory over the Kandarian evil is ever truly permanent.

Rather than feeling like a random cameo dropped in for fan service, the surprise appearance helps make the modern Evil Dead timeline feel a little more connected.
Could it be planting the seeds for a future movie? Maybe. The franchise has increasingly embraced standalone stories connected by the mythology of the Deadites rather than by recurring protagonists, so Ellie’s return could simply be a playful tease that leaves the door open for another appearance down the road.
One thing it almost certainly isn’t teasing is Evil Dead: Wrath. That film is expected to take the franchise in a completely different direction, making it unlikely that the post-credits scene is setting up its story.
