Honestly, I’m not so sure being trapped between Great White sharks and Antonio Banderas (Desperado) is all that bad, but that’s the scenario facing the protagonists in the trailer for Aura Entertainment’s fin flick, Above & Below.

During a Mexican shark dive, five friends are ambushed after discovering cartel cocaine. Trapped in a shark cage, Tatiana and Kaley are forced by the cartel to retrieve a bag of drugs on the seafloor. Battling legendary Great White sharks, dwindling air, and armed killers, the survivors mount a brutal fight to outsmart their captors and escape.

The trailer is giving 47 Meters Down meets (kind of?) Dangerous Animals.

Laura Marano (Austin & Ally), Christina Ochoa (A Million Little Things), Diego Llinás, Timothy V. Murphy (Sons of Anarchy), Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Jess Liaudin (The Substance), Donncha Tynan (Vikings: Valhalla), Ryan Bertroche (Shameless), Ramiro Alonso (Cell 211), Rodrigo Poisón (Balas y Katanas), and Mario Tardón (El Partido) also star.

Jesse V. Johnson directed the film from a script by Tony Giordano.

Producers are David Hillary, Carmen Aguado, Manu Vega, and Frank Ariza. Christian Mercuri, Roman Viaris, Ameer Fawaz, Rene Sorensen executive produced, with Damon Chung and Maria Gruzintceva on as co-producers.
