A petrol tanker and a milk tanker were destroyed in a fire in an accident near 11th Mile, Doddaballapur taluk on Thursday.
Four people, including the drivers of the two vehicles, had a narrow escape, and none were injured in the accident.
According to the police, the petrol tanker which lost control and crashed into a roadside tree caught fire immediately. The flames quickly spread to a nearby milk tanker that was reversing at the same time. Both drivers managed to jump out of their vehicles in time, escaping without injuries. Two others on the road also had a narrow escape.
The fire almost completely destroyed both tankers. The police, along with the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after an intensive operation.
Initial reports indicate that overspeeding might have been the cause of the accident. The Doddabelavangala police registered a case, and further investigation is under way.
