Tracey Ullman (Robin Hood: Men in Tights), Sam Spruell (Fargo series), and Jerome Flynn (pictured below in Game of Thrones) have signed onto season two of FX’s Alien: Earth, reports Variety.
They join Peter Dinklage as well as returning star Sydney Chandler and fellow cast members Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Babou Ceesay, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Moe Bar-El, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, and more.
Creator Noah Hawley returns as showrunner.
The move reunites Spruell with Hawley after their work on Fargo together, while Flynn reunites with Game of Thrones co-star Peter Dinklage. Ullman’s casting is fascinating to me, since she has an extensive comedic background. With so much talent joining the cast, season two of Alien: Earth is making it look like we’re in for another banger season (I personally love Alien: Earth and the exciting new directions it took the Alien franchise).
In the first season, when the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.
Production on Season 2 of Alien: Earth is now underway in London’s Pinewood Studios, home to the original 1979 movie, Alien 3, and prequel Prometheus, after Season 1 was filmed in Thailand. Pretty interesting, if you ask me.
