Blumhouse, AMC, and Lionsgate Join Universal in Horror Card Game “Hellbreak”

Spin Master has announced a major expansion to the studio lineup behind Hellbreak, its upcoming horror trading card game, adding three heavyweight genre partners: BlumhouseAMC Global Media, and Lionsgate. They join Universal Products & Experiences, which was previously announced as the game’s cornerstone partner.

What Is Hellbreak?

Developed in collaboration with Ghost Galaxy, Hellbreak is a competitive, head-to-head trading card game built for fast, aggressive play. Each player commands a fearsome monster as their “leader,” builds resources, deploys minions, and launches attacks — with victory going to whoever takes down the opposing monster first.

The first set is shaping up to be a horror art collector’s dream, featuring illustrations from more than 43 artists. Previously revealed characters already include Universal icons like Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein, and Jaws, with more reveals promised in the coming months as new studio partners bring their own monsters into the mix.

Why This Lineup Matters

Pairing Universal’s classic monster stable with Blumhouse’s modern horror empire, Lionsgate’s slasher and franchise catalog, and AMC’s television horror properties is a big swing — it puts decades of horror IP from wildly different eras and mediums onto the same battlefield. For fans, that likely means the potential to see everything from Universal’s Golden Age monsters to Blumhouse’s contemporary hits to Lionsgate franchise villains represented on cards in the same set or format.

Spin Master’s President of Toys, Doug Wadleigh, called it a major step in expanding the company’s games portfolio by bringing premium studio horror IP into the trading card space. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum echoed that sentiment, saying Hellbreak channels the studio’s two decades of horror filmmaking directly into the hands of players.

When Can You Play?

Hellbreak is slated to launch in Fall 2026. Spin Master has not yet detailed exactly which characters each new studio partner will contribute, so expect a steady drip of monster reveals between now and launch.
