Last we heard, Lionsgate was planning on bringing Kenji Tanigaki‘s martial arts banger, The Furious, to On Demand and Digital on July 14th. Well, today we’ve learned that the studio has moved that date up by a week!

Yes, beginning tomorrow, July 7th, you can invite one of the greatest martial arts films of the last decade into your home.

“When Wang Wei’s young daughter is abducted by a ruthless criminal network, he turns to local authorities for help — only to be met with corruption and indifference. With no other options, Wei takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a relentless and violent mission to rescue her. Along the way, he forms an uneasy alliance with Navin, a determined journalist searching for his own missing wife. Together, the two men plunge into a brutal underworld, unleashing a relentless assault against the kidnappers in a high-stakes martial arts battle fueled by vengeance.”

The Furious stars Xie Miao as Wang Wei, alongside Joe TaslimYang EnyouBrian Le, and Joey Iwanaga.

In my review, I described the film as an “ultra-violent action epic that more than lives up to the title”. I loved it, to say the least.

Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, the film is rated R for “strong bloody violence and language,” and believe me when I say the film delivers everything it promises.
