A property dispute in Punjab’s Patiala district turned violent after a group of Nihang Sikhs allegedly assaulted members of a family during an attempt to take possession of a house.

The incident took place in the Sanaur area, where tensions flared after a large number of Nihang Sikhs reportedly arrived at the property. Videos of the clash have also surfaced on social media.

Footage from the scene showed a group of Nihang Sikhs moving through a residential neighbourhood carrying sticks. In the video, a woman is seen trying to wrest a stick away from one of the men. After a brief struggle, the man managed to pull it back before the group proceeded towards a nearby house. Moments later, an altercation broke out between two groups outside the property.

Police said Tarvinder Singh allegedly brought Nihang Sikhs to help him take possession of the house. By the time officers reached the spot, a scuffle had already taken place. The police then dispersed the group and recorded statements from the complainants.

Ravinder Singh and his family alleged that the Nihang Sikhs, who had been brought from outside, assaulted them during the confrontation. They claimed that elderly family members and women suffered injuries in the attack. The family has demanded strict action and justice in the case.

Patiala Rural DSP Ranbir Singh said police received a complaint regarding a dispute over possession of a house in Sant Hazara Singh Nagar. He said Ravinder Singh’s wife Mandeep Kaur, who was seen in the video, and her father-in-law were injured in the incident.

Based on Mandeep Kaur’s statement, an FIR has been registered. The DSP alleged that Tarvinder Sharma had hired the Nihang Sikhs for the operation.

Police have named five accused in the FIR, including Tarvinder Singh, his brother and his son. Around 15 unidentified Nihang Sikhs have also been booked.
