When I was a kid, I’d be first out the door once I heard the ice cream man approaching. The alluring tune practically screams idyllic summer and sweet childhood. Filmmaker Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Thanksgiving) is out to change that, though, as you can see in the new clip below for his upcoming slasher, Ice Cream Man.
In the clip, kids awaken to the sound of the ice cream man as he drives through a suburban neighborhood at night, followed by one of them giving their mother an unwelcome wake-up call. I said I love the sound of the ice cream man, but there’s something especially, er, chilling, about the wrongness of hearing that tune in the middle of the night. A wrongness Roth seems intent on exploiting for maximum creepiness.
Ice Cream Man follows an idyllic summer town as it descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.
The slasher stars Ari Millen (Orphan Black) as the creepy ice cream driver delivering sweet treats, and we get a taste of his performance in some of the photos.

Ice Cream Man is directed, produced by, and stars Roth (Thanksgiving, Hostel franchise, Cabin Fever), with a story by Roth and a script co-written by Roth and longtime collaborator Noah Belson (Cabin Fever).
The film features original music by legendary GRAMMY-nominated rapper/actor Snoop Dogg and Emmy Award-winning composer Brandon Roberts. The film is executive-produced by GRAMMY award-winning rap icon Nas.
It will open in 2,000 venues in North America this summer through Iconic Events Releasing. It’s also Roth’s first film under The Horror Section banner.
