KUMA, the Boys’ Love imprint of manga publisher Denpa, announced the license acquisition of Ogeretsu Tanaka’s Mermaid Prince manga series during a panel at Anime Expo 2026. A release date for the manga’s first volume was not revealed, as of the time of writing. 

The supernatural Boys’ Love romance manga was first published digitally on Tanaka’s X/Twitter and pixiv accounts on November 29, 2023. Shinshokan has published the series in print since August 2024 and has released two tankobon volumes as of July 2025. 

KUMA describes the main synopsis of Mermaid Prince as: 

A cash-strapped young man’s life changes overnight when a mysterious organization shows up at his door and offers him 100 million yen for his rare genetics.

The catch? In order to claim the money, he must successfully father a child with an endangered male mermaid in order to save them from extinction!
