After many years, Nicolas Winding Refn is finally back with his neon-soaked slasher, Her Private Hell. The film stars Sophie Thatcher (Companion, Heretic, Yellowjackets) as a woman searching for her father as a strange mist engulfs their city and unleashes an elusive, deadly presence. Today, we have a new poster that you can find below that drops the actress into a world of neon and desire.
Here’s the official synopsis: “When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. Her quest collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from hell.”
Her Private Hell also features Charles Melton (May December), Kristine Froseth, and Havana Rose Liu (No Exit), with Dougray Scott (Irvine Welsh’s Crime), Diego Calva (Babylon), Aoi Yamada (Perfect Days), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), and Hidetoshi Nishijima (Drive My Car).
Refn characterizes Her Private Hell as an original story driven by “glitter, sex, and violence,” firmly within his established stylistic territory. The MPA has rated the film R “for some strong/bloody violence, sexual content, and language.”
I was a fan of Neon Demon, and Her Private Hell looks to recapture that universe of glitz, glamour, and gore. I can’t wait.
Neon will release Her Private Hell in theaters everywhere on July 24, 2026.
