FX and Hulu continue to fill out an interesting cast for their Far Cry series, as Deadline reports that Steve Buscemi (pictured above in Fargo) has signed onto the project.
Buscemi joins previously cast Lizzy Caplan (Cobweb).
At this time, no plot details have been revealed. But we do know the series will follow an anthology-style format, much like the games, with a different cast and story each season.
The series hails from Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth) and Rob Mac (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), with the latter also starring.
Mac will executive produce under his More Better Productions label, with Hawley executive producing for FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys. Also executive producing is Simon Emanuel and Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The series will be produced by FX Productions.
Far Cry first arrived in 2004, developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft. The first-person shooter became a hit and spawned a franchise with five more sequels.
Uwe Boll directed a feature adaptation in 2008 (we’ll forgive you if you never heard of it, considering the Uwe Boll of it all).
FX’s take marks the first live-action television series based on the game.
Far Cry is set to air on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ internationally.
