Donald Trump is due to meet Darline Graham – the sister of the late Republican senator Lindsey Graham, who was sworn in to temporarily fill his Senate seat \u2013 later today.<\/strong><\/p>\n The president will meet with the new senator, just five days after her brother\u2019s sudden death, in the Oval Office at 9.30am local time. Graham was appointed on Tuesday by Henry McMaster, South Carolina\u2019s governor, to fill the remainder of her brother Lindsey\u2019s current term.<\/p>\n Lindsey died on Saturday night, aged 71, after what his office called a \u201cbrief and sudden illness\u201d. The chief medical examiner then preliminarily ruled on Sunday that he died of aortic dissection due to cardiovascular disease. With the backing of Trump, Darline was swiftly appointed to serve the remaining months of his Senate term, which ends on 3 January.<\/p>\n In brief remarks at a press conference on Monday, Darline said it was an \u201chonor\u201d to replace her older brother \u2013 who became her legal guardian after their parents died when she was a girl \u2013 in the Senate. After the city of Philadelphia filed a lawsuit<\/a> against the federal government, Judge Cynthia M Rufe ordered the original panels to be reinstated on 16 February.
