U.S.-based media company <\/span>Nakama announced the launch of AniBiz.com earlier this month, which has been described as a \u201cdedicated B2B (business-to-business) marketplace\u201d that is developed and built \u201cspecifically for the global anime industry.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nakama\u2019s press release describes AniBiz as helping to streamline the licensing process through a \u201cdigital-first solution\u201d and a \u201ccentralized, secure environment\u201d for global buyers. The platform will provide assistance in \u201caccessing anime intellectual properties\u201d and connecting with anime rights holders. It will also respect \u201cthe unique structure of Japanese anime licensing, the ecosystem of rights holders, distributors, merchandisers, and retailers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The platform\u2019s official website also lists three service tiers: a basic \u201cFree\u201d plan, a Pro plan listed at US$49.00 a month, and a \u201cVIP\u201d custom plan with no specific pricing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nakama president and co-founder <\/span>Kun Gao (who also co-founded Crunchyroll and served as its former CEO), explained to <\/span>Anime News Network<\/span><\/a> in an interview that the basic \u201cFree\u201d plan would allow licensees to \u201ccreate a profile that licensors can search for,\u201d while the Pro plan will be a subscription-based option that gives them more data to titles, production committees, and \u201cother information.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the third \u201cVIP\u201d plan is an option for companies with \u201cspecial requests.\u201d The website lists this plan as having a dedicated consultation on strategy, expert review of license applications, and \u201cconcierge introduction\u201d to licensors. It also employs \u201csuccess based\u201d outcome pricing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
