If you were hoping Wingard would hold back, it doesn\u2019t sound like that\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The upcoming A24 action horror film reunites Wingard with longtime collaborator\u00a0<strong>Dan Stevens<\/strong>, and that\u2019s only added fuel to a fan theory that\u2019s been circulating ever since the first trailer dropped. Many horror fans are convinced\u00a0<strong>Onslaught<\/strong> could somehow be connected to <strong>The Guest<\/strong>, the cult favorite Wingard and writer Simon Barrett released back in 2014.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, is it?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to star\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Hall<\/strong>, not exactly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked about the comparisons, Hall said she doesn\u2019t believe\u00a0<strong>Onslaught<\/strong>\u00a0is a sequel to\u00a0<strong>The Guest<\/strong>, though she admitted it shares some similar elements. She stopped short of saying much more, playfully dodging additional questions and leaving fans with just enough mystery to keep the speculation alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>Onslaught<\/em> In Theaters September 4, 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it\u2019s connected or not,\u00a0<strong>Onslaught<\/strong>\u00a0certainly has the right people behind it. Simon Barrett returns to write the screenplay alongside Wingard, continuing one of horror\u2019s most successful creative partnerships. Together they\u2019ve given fans\u00a0<strong>You\u2019re Next<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The Guest<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Blair Witch<\/strong>, making this one of the year\u2019s most anticipated genre releases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film stars\u00a0<strong>Adria Arjona<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dan Stevens<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Hall<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Michael Biehn<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Drew Starkey<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Reginald VelJohnson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eric Wareheim<\/strong>, and UFC champion\u00a0<strong>Alex Pereira<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story follows a former Army sniper forced to protect her daughter after genetically engineered super soldiers escape from a secret military facility.
