The opening animation of Goodbye, Lara<\/em>, the Summer 2026 anime that offers a new spin on The Little Mermaid<\/em>, has been released on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel.<\/span><\/p>\n Goodbye, Lara <\/em>director Takushi Koide<\/strong> (who was assistant director, revue costume designer, weapon designer, and more on Revue Starlight<\/em> and its movie sequel) storyboarded and unit directed the attractive sequence, which includes some traditional cel elements<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n The opening theme song\u2019s title is also \u201cGoodbye, Lara\u201d (\u201cSayonara Lara\u201d). Ikimonogakari<\/strong>\u00a0is the artist.<\/span><\/p>\n The anime\u2019s Moaang<\/strong>-storyboarded and -unit directed ending animation, which also debuted with its second episode, hasn\u2019t been released on YouTube at the time of writing.<\/span><\/p>\n Goodbye, Lara\u00a0<\/em>began airing on July 5 at 24:30 JST (effectively July 6 at 00:30). 200 years before the main story, the titular mermaid Lara fell in love with a human prince and consumed a witch\u2019s potion to become human herself. However, Lara\u2019s failure to find true love results in a bubbly death.
