PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — <\/span>An event in Philadelphia focused on preserving the legacy of the Negro Leagues through education, storytelling, and community engagement.<\/p>\n The Action Cam was at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia in Center City for the ceremony on Friday.<\/p>\n Phillies legend, Ryan Howard, spoke about the importance of honoring baseball’s African American history, and ensuring those stories are preserved for future generations.<\/p>\n Howard also presented a $20,000 check in support of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, which is in Kansas City, Missouri.<\/p>\n Howard says he used to visit the museum every year before training camp, as a pre-season ritual, to pay homage to those who came before him.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2026 WPVI-TV.
