Serena Williams plans to return for the upcoming U.S. hard-court season before the US Open while managing her businesses. Williams, 44, injured her right knee during her opening-round singles loss to Maya Joint at Wimbledon. She withdrew\u00a0from doubles with her sister<\/a>, Venus Williams. Her team confirmed she does not plan to retire.<\/p>\n \u201cHer thoughts are to try and keep going,\u201d Williams\u2019 coach, Rennae Stubbs, told reporters at Wimbledon. \u201cShe\u2019s got a lot of things to consider, her family, her businesses. But her goal is to keep going.\u201d In a statement on social media, Williams shared, \u201cI feel a responsibility to show my daughter and young athletes everywhere that setbacks can be overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Tennis365<\/em>, Williams is preparing a full singles schedule for the US Open starting Aug. 23.
