PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — <\/span>A 19-year-old construction worker was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon at a Roxborough home where neighbors say a crew had been working without issue for several days.<\/p>\n Residents on the 400 block of Ripka Street said they were stunned by the violence.<\/p>\n “This is shocking, surprising. This doesn’t really happen here,” said Colleen Daily, who lives nearby.<\/p>\n IMAGE: Philadelphia police have cordoned off an area outside a home after the death of a construction worker on July 8, 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Police said they were called to the block around 2 p.m. and found the teen on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. Neighbors said first responders tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.<\/p>\n Investigators said the victim and another man were arguing inside the home when a shot was fired. The victim then walked outside and collapsed. Police said three other workers were outside at the time.<\/p>\n “It’s just sad,” another neighbor said. “I’m just hopeful for that guy’s family, honestly.”<\/p>\n Philadelphia Police Capt. James Kimrey said, “They basically said they didn’t see anything, but they heard an argument or commotion inside, and then they found the boss outside.”<\/p>\n Crime scene investigators removed evidence from the home, including a large bag containing a rifle.<\/p>\n “It’s crazy, especially this house. That would be the last house I would think,” said neighbor Jim Mulligan.<\/p>\n Police said the alleged suspect was taken in for questioning by the homicide unit.<\/p>\n No arrests have been announced.<\/p>\n Police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n Anyone with information is asked to call 215-686-TIPS.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2026 WPVI-TV.
