When I think of incredible horror performances from the last decade or so, I consider John Goodman<\/strong> in 10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em> (pictured above) as right up there, nipping at the heels of Toni Collette\u2019s Hereditary<\/em> performance. Now, the actor is set to return to the genre, as Deadline<\/a> reports he\u2019s been cast in the creature feature, Skeletons<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Goodman joins Willa Fitzgerald <\/strong>(Strange Darling<\/em>),\u00a0Ione Skye<\/strong>\u00a0(the newest\u00a0Anaconda<\/em>), and Daith\u00ed \u00d3 Harag\u00e1in<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cTrespasses\u201d), alongside stars Brie Larson<\/strong>\u00a0(Captain Marvel<\/em>) and\u00a0Kyle Gallner<\/strong>\u00a0(Strange Darling<\/em>).<\/p>\n

The film is described as \u201ca modern take on the creature horror film told from the perspective of a young boy who slowly begins to discover that his beloved parents are hiding a disturbing secret about his mother\u2019s true nature.\u201d<\/p>\n

To me, the film sounds a little like the Halloween-set chiller,\u00a0Cobweb<\/em>. And with an absolutely stacked cast that continues to get more impressive, this one\u2019s sounding more and more intriguing. <\/p>\n

JT Mollner<\/strong> (Strange Darling<\/em>) will direct and rewrite the script initially written by\u00a0Brian Duffield<\/strong>\u00a0(Whalefall<\/em>), who based it on a short story by\u00a0Phillip Fracassi<\/strong>. Mollner wrote the script for Stephen King\u2019s excellent adaptation of\u00a0The Long Walk<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Every time Goodman joins a horror feature, he delivers a memorable performance. The man has appeared in Fallen<\/em>, ParaNorman<\/em>, Kong: Skull Island<\/em>, and 10 Cloverfield Lane<\/em>, to name a few. He\u2019s crushed it every single time. <\/p>\n

Someone needs to give the casting director of Skeletons <\/em>a raise. <\/p>\n

The project comes from FilmNation Entertainment\u2019s production label Infrared, J.J. Abrams\u2019 Bad Robot Productions, and Assemble Media. Producers are Drew Simon, Abrams, Jon Cohen, and Jack Heller. Executive producers are Assemble\u2019s Caitlin de Lisser-Ellen and Duffield, as well as Roy Lee and Steven Schneider. Larson and Fracassi are also executive producers.<\/p>\n
