In Pennsylvania and New Jersey the number of people sickened is currently 1-10 in each state, according to the CDC. Delaware has yet to report any cases.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-94395e58=\"\">List of fruits and vegetables<\/h2>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">There is currently no evidence of a single, multistate outbreak linking all the cases, and no specific produce grower or supplier, or specific produce type has been identified as the source of the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">However, officials are detailing foods that have been previously linked to the illness:<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Bagged salad mixes and kits (pre-cut lettuce blends with romaine, iceberg, red cabbage, carrots)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Fresh cilantro (coriander leaves)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Fresh basil<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Raspberries<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Snow peas<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Green onions (scallions)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">What you can do:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">If you are preparing or eating any of the previously linked raw foods, take the following steps to reduce the risk of exposure:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Lettuce\/leafy greens: Buy whole heads of lettuce (rather than prewashed, bagged lettuce or salad mixes), throw away the outer 2\u20133 layers of leaves and wash the inner leaves under running water. For leafy greens that can be cooked, cooking is the safest option.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Cilantro, basil:\u00a0Wash thoroughly under running water, separating the leaves.\u00a0 Safest when cooked.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Raspberries:\u00a0Their bumpy surface makes them especially hard to clean; the parasite can hide in the tiny crevices. Safest when cooked (pies, jams etc.). Consider frozen raspberries as an alternative (freezing may reduce but does not guarantee elimination of the parasite).<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Snow peas: Wash under running water and rub the surface. Safest when cooked.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Green onions:\u00a0Trim the root end and remove the outer layer, wash thoroughly under running water. Safest when cooked.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-v-94395e58=\"\">What is cyclosporiasis?\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">Dig deeper:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Cyclosporiasis is a diarrheal illness caused by infection with the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis, which experts say is found in developing countries and is spread by food or water contaminated with feces.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Outbreaks have occurred in the US as a result of eating contaminated fresh produce in hot weather. It is not known to spread from person-to-person.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-94395e58=\"\">Cyclosporiasis symptoms<\/h2>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">Timeline:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Symptoms occur two to 14 days after exposure and may include:<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WTXF\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Frequent watery diarrhea<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Loss of appetite and weight<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Abdominal cramps and bloating<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Nausea (vomiting is less common)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\"><span data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Low-grade fever<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Anyone infected who does not get treatment, health experts say the illness may last for a few days to over a month.
