CARTERET, N.J. (WPVI) — <\/span>A whale crashed into a New Jersey fire department’s rescue ship, causing it to sink after catastrophic damage.<\/p>\n The Carteret Fire Department’s Marine Unit 2 was hit on July 4, near Raritan Bay, as it was returning from holiday patrolling.<\/p>\n Officials say the boat immediately took on water and everyone on board had to abandon it within seconds.<\/p>\n A jet ski operator and another boater fished them out of the water along with members of the Perth Amboy Marine Unit.<\/p>\n Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, thanks in part, to wearing the appropriate life jackets.
