A fifth promotional video for the soon-to-air The Ghost in the Shell<\/em> has been released, with the latest glimpse of the new Ghost in the Shell anime including a preview of \u201cGO GHOST,\u201d its newly announced opening song. King Gnu<\/strong> is the song\u2019s artist.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Ghost in the Shell <\/em>will begin streaming on Prime Video in Japan on July 7, the same date as its broadcast start (it was previously known that Prime Video would exclusively stream the anime outside of Russia and China with an exclusive early window for Japan). <\/span>The synopsis reads:<\/span><\/p>\n The year is 2029. In near-future Japan, where the world has become highly information-intensive, with a vast corporate network covering the planet, electrons and light pulsing through it. But the nation-state and ethnic groups still survive. Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg, leads an elite combat unit, including Batou. While commanding her team, Kusanagi envisions the creation of a specialized task force to preemptively strike against emerging threats. Meanwhile, Daisuke Aramaki of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who had been planning to establish a similar unit, recruited Kusanagi and her team. Together, they begin operations as Public Security Section 9\u2014an offensive tactical unit known as \u201cShell Squad.\u201d As they confront complex cybercrimes and international conspiracies, the existence of a mysterious, unidentified hacker known as The \u201cPuppet Master\u201d emerges on the horizon of their investigation. What fate awaits Kusanagi? And what is the Puppet Master\u2019s true objective? A new era of cyberpunk action begins.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n This latest\u00a0adaptation of\u00a0Shirow Masamune<\/strong>\u2018s cyberpunk manga is directed by Mokochan<\/strong>\u00a0(DAN DA DAN<\/em>\u00a0Season 1 assistant director) at\u00a0Science SARU<\/strong>. Other staff include\u00a0EnJoe Toh<\/strong>\u00a0(Godzilla Singular Point<\/em>, author of books like\u00a0Self-Reference ENGINE<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Code Buddha<\/em>) as series composer and scriptwriter and\u00a0Shuhei Handa<\/strong>\u00a0(Scott Pilgrim Takes Off<\/em> co-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director. The Japanese cast remains unannounced.<\/span><\/p>\n The original manga debuted in the May 1989 issue of Young Magazine Kaizokuban, a special supplement of Kodansha\u2019s seinen magazine Young Magazine. Of its previous anime adaptations, the most well-known are arguably\u00a0Mamoru Oshii<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Ghost in the Shell<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence<\/em>\u00a0movies and\u00a0Kenji Kamiyama<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex<\/em>\u00a0TV anime, its second season, and movie.
