The windows needed opening when summer breezes blew<\/span><\/p>\n I sat beside a big long pole; the teacher said \u201cYou’ll do\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n So I was window monitor in 1962.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The writing on the wall was plain for everyone to see<\/span><\/p>\n As harbinger of future wealth and great success for me<\/span><\/p>\n When I was made milk monitor in 1963.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n And things continued in this vein as in these years before<\/span><\/p>\n When I was put in charge of opening the classroom door<\/span><\/p>\n A solemn duty given me in 1964.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n It seems I was the teacher’s pet, for without the need to strive<\/span><\/p>\n I was singled out from scuzzies who from graft would skive<\/span><\/p>\n And so gave out the inkwells next in 1965.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n For helpfulness and honesty I truly had no peer<\/span><\/p>\n So teachers and the police all thought that it was rather queer<\/span><\/p>\n When I made off with National Savings stamps in my next year.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Yes indeed the writing on the wall was plain to see<\/span><\/p>\n Behind this angel’s face I’ve lived a life of treachery<\/span><\/p>\n And now spend my ill-gotten gains beside the Spanish sea.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The windows needed opening when summer breezes blew I sat beside a big long pole;
