CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn — <\/span>Miki Sudo captured her 12th title at the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest at Coney Island on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Sudo downed 38.75 dogs to win the annual event again. She also holds the women’s record of 51 dogs.<\/p>\n

Competitors consume as many hot dogs and buns as possible in 10 minutes, usually dunking the wieners in water first to make them easier to swallow.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Joey Chestnut has taken the so-called Mustard Belt 17 times and notched the men’s record: 76 franks. He’s currently on probation in a battery case but is allowed to travel outside Indiana. His lawyer has said that what happened in the bar last April was a misunderstanding and that Chestnut accepted responsibility for his actions.<\/p>\n

The event, which dates to 1972, is held in front of the original Nathan’s Famous’ restaurant in New York’s Coney Island.<\/p>\n

Contest sponsor Nathan’s Famous was sold in January to packaged meat giant Smithfield Foods.<\/p>\n

HOW TO WATCH<\/h3>\n

Coverage of the men’s competition airs at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and will re-air on the same channel at 4 p.m. ET. ABC will simulcast coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
