Jason Universe published their 13-minute short film Sweet Revenge, which showcased Jason back in classic form, stalking a group of partying teens.<\/p>\n
Directed by Wrong Turn\u2019s Mike P. Nelson, the vignette was produced in partnership with Angry Orchard Hard Cider, and essentially acted as an elaborate commercial.<\/p>\n
However, soon after the short film debuted, it vanished from YouTube\u2026<\/p>\n
It was speculated that Jason Universe pulled Sweet Revenge due to fan backlash. Many things weren\u2019t well received by the Friday the 13th fanbase, chief among them Jason\u2019s new look.<\/p>\n
Fans also balked at the fact that Jason\u2019s return was simply for a beverage promo, fearing that this meant Jason would only be used as a marketing gimmick from that point forward.<\/p>\n
However, a year after the short was unceremoniously scrubbed from the internet, Sweet Revenge has returned to YouTube.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, this isn\u2019t a new upload by the Jason Universe channel, as the original view count and comment section is there. This suggests that Jason Universe privated Sweet Revenge as opposed to deleting it completely.<\/p>\n
With its re-emergence, Sweet Revenge has also been slapped with an age restriction from YouTube, which may suggest why they took it down in the first place. YouTube restricted the short soon after its original upload, and Jason Universe opted to take it down rather than have limited viewership.<\/p>\n
So, why has Sweet Revenge returned? Well, no official statement has been made, but it\u2019s likely Jason Universe are prepping for the arrival of Crystal Lake, which is set to premiere this October.<\/p>\n
The franchise is about to roar back to life after many years away, so, why not put Sweet Revenge back online to give people a modern Jason fix?<\/p>\n
