To their credit, and despite being an independent studio, A24 have definitely made their mark on horror.<\/p>\n However, the announcement of a recent merger with Google has been greeted unfavourably by fans of the studio\u2019s content.<\/p>\n As was recently announced, Google have invested $75 million into A24. This has formed a merger deal that will see the studio partner with Google\u2019s DeepMind infrastructure to develop new A.I. powered technologies for filmmakers.<\/p>\n Although marketed as a huge leap forward for filmmaking, the announcement has been greeted with considerable backlash from cinema fans.<\/p>\n Many are criticising A24 for seemingly embracing the introduction of A.I. to the filmmaking industry, something actors and writers have been actively campaigning against.<\/p>\n With A24 seemingly happy to work alongside A.I., some are pondering if the death of originality is upon us. Some have even withdrawn their support for the studio, proclaiming they will avoid all-future A24 productions.<\/p>\n This is a worrying movement, as the studio has some sizeable genre projects in the works, including the Crystal Lake television series and Curry Barker\u2019s Texas Chain Saw Massacre.<\/p>\n It\u2019s likely that the studio has partnered with Google purely for the financial boost, given their recent string of financially unsuccessful films.
