They are specifically looking for alien romance recommendations where the alien character feels truly\u00a0alien<\/em>, and not necessarily humans with a different paintjob.<\/p>\n Amanda<\/strong>: Obviously Strange Love<\/em> by Ann Aguirre.<\/p>\n Someone You Can Build a Nest<\/em> In by John Wiswell kinda of works. The monster is a shapeshifter and has a humanoid form made out of the remains of her meals, but it\u2019s true form is an amorphous lump. It\u2019s one of the weirdest romances I\u2019ve read and big warnings for body horror.<\/p>\n Sarah<\/strong>: They aren\u2019t aliens so much as different species in a fantasy world, but Radiance<\/em> by Grace Draven ( A | BN<\/a> | K<\/a> | AB<\/a> | Scribd<\/a> ) might have the vibe the asker is looking for.<\/p>\n This is a controversial rec as it caused a LOT of discussion when it came out, but The Last Hour of Gann<\/em> by R. Lee Smith ( A ) would work for sure.<\/p>\n Amanda<\/strong>: I don\u2019t think the hero in Radiance<\/em> is that much different than a human. If I recall, he\u2019s gray and has sharp teeth and claws. Still very humanoid in terms of body time, IMO!<\/p>\n But part of the romance does deal with the physical differences between the hero and heroine. I still cackle at the scene where he refers to the heroine\u2019s teeth as \u201chorse teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n Sarah<\/strong>: Yeah that\u2019s what I was thinking \u2013 he\u2019s humanoid but I remember the scene<\/p>\n Show Spoiler<\/p>\n where he was harmed by enemies and has no claws and is relishing touching her without hurting her.<\/p>\n He\u2019s not an alien, per se, but they\u2019re very alien to one another.<\/p>\n Amanda<\/strong>: Not necessarily sci-fi or alien, but do want to shout out my boy Sholto from the Merry Gentry<\/em> series ( A | BN<\/a> | K<\/a> | AB<\/a> ) who is a fae with tentacles coming out of his stomach. Truly ahead of his time.<\/p>\n What books would you recommend?
