PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — <\/span>A historic mansion straddling Philadelphia’s Germantown and West Mount Airy neighborhoods has hit the market, offering both architectural charm and a unique connection to history.<\/p>\n Upsala Mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. Now, it’s listed on Zillow for nearly a million dollars.<\/p>\n The listing agent is also the owner of the 1798 home that features nine bedrooms, 10 fireplaces, 15 parking spots.<\/p>\n The property also comes with a unique condition tied to its historical significance: a 70-page easement requiring the owner to allow an annual reenactment of portions of the Battle of Germantown on the grounds.<\/p>\n The battle itself was fought on the property’s front lawn in 1777.<\/p>\n “It is actually part of the deed that the owner of Upsala is required to allow the battle to occur on the front yard of the property. And, it really is a fun event, and over the years. I threw a number of viewing parties, we would call them, because from inside the house, you have a great view of the reenactment,” said Alex Aberle, the home’s owner and listing agent.<\/p>\n Aberle says the house has so much to offer.<\/p>\n “You know, so it’s a traditional floor plan, but it’s still very flexible in how somebody could come in and occupy the space. And I’m asking, the house is for sale $995,000…There’s been a lot of interest.
