Team members also include <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1309306621244004&amp;set=a.554807660027241\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">donor family members,\u00a0supporters,\u00a0and Gift of Life staff<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gift of Life\u2019s\u00a0Team Philly has\u00a0been part of this event since its\u00a0inception\u00a0in 1982, when the team traveled to Athens, Greece, for the International Transplant Games. The <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kidney.org\/news-stories\/how-nkf-got-here-kidney-care-1990s\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">first U.S. Transplant Games were held in 1990<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than\u00a0100,000 people\u00a0are on the organ transplant waitlist in the U.S., and 13 die every day waiting. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transplantgamesofamerica.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">In Gift of Life\u2019s region alone<\/a>,\u00a0nearly 4,500\u00a0people are waiting. The Transplant Games amplify the urgent need for more donors \u2014 and\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0the profound impact of the decision to give\u00a0others a second chance at life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Richard D.
