BJP leader K Annamalai on Monday dismissed speculation of a possible alliance with Vijay\u2019s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, saying the actor has consistently positioned the BJP as an adversary in Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“I don\u2019t see a possibility of a tie-up with Vijay. He wants to keep the BJP as an ideological enemy because there is still that belief in Tamil Nadu to keep opposing a north Indian party,” Annamalai said while addressing a session at India Today Conclave South 2025.<\/p>\n
The former state BJP chief added that Vijay\u2019s criticism of both the AIADMK and the BJP made any electoral understanding unlikely. \u201cLast Madurai conference, he criticised AIADMK. When things are this way, I can\u2019t see a future right now where all of us come together just to oppose the DMK,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
His remark comes just weeks after Khushbu Sundar, Tamil Nadu BJP’s vice president, made a direct and personal appeal to Vijay to join hands with the BJP and AIADMK to defeat the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n
Conclave South: Full Coverage<\/strong><\/p>\n Acknowledging Vijay\u2019s popularity among younger voters, Annamalai said Gen Z was naturally \u201cslightly more anti-establishment\u201d, and added that Tamil Nadu had always welcomed newcomers. \u201cWith respect to Gen Z, definitely Vijay is there because he connects well with the audience.
