It\u2019s Another Fresh Start for All of Philly\u2019s College Football Programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sure, Labor Day weekend is the unofficial start<\/a> of the college football around our region<\/a>. But it\u2019s the following weekend (September 6th, this year) that all of Philly\u2019s collegiate football teams will be in action\u200a\u2014\u200athe first time since the end<\/a> of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Philadelphia\u200a\u2014\u200awhose city is rooted deep the history of the very beginnings of our great country\u200a\u2014\u200acollege football greatness runs equally as deep in our history. So far\u200a\u2014\u200awe\u2019ve only got one true football dynasty\u200a\u2014\u200athe Penn Quakers football team<\/a> who won the national<\/a> championship in 1894, 1895, 1897, and again in 1904, and 1907\u20131908 (unless the present-day Eagles make it happen of course.)<\/p>\n

Last weekend\u200a\u2014\u200aPhilly college\u2019s season began on a high-note. Temple Football began the K.C. Keeler opened his chapter as Head Coach with a 42\u201310 win over UMass including<\/a> a 128-yard performance from Jay Ducker<\/a> and 467 total yards of offense and six touchdowns from quarterback Eric Simon.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Just over 145 miles<\/a> away in Happy Valley\u200a\u2014\u200aPenn State kicked off its season where they left off for most of 2024 with Imhotep Charter\u2019s Mylachi Williams<\/a>, Jabree Coleman<\/a>, and Tyseer Denmark<\/a> among other Philly connections who helped to routed the Nevada Wolfpack and quarterback Chubba<\/a> Purdy by a final score of 46\u201311\u200a\u2014\u200aincluding<\/a> three takeaways and 438 yards<\/a> of total offense. Fans enjoyed frozen treats on campus from the legendary Penn State Berkey Creamery\u200a\u2014\u200awhose<\/a> research program started as far back as as 160 years ago during the American Civil War with over<\/a> 200 cows still on campus.<\/p>\n

It will be a tough act to follow\u200a\u2014\u200awith both ABC and ESPN recording a record-setting over ten million <\/strong>viewers<\/strong><\/a> for just three games. But for all of Philadelphia\u2019s collegiate programs in action this Saturday for the first time in 2025\u200a\u2014\u200athe best is yet to come.<\/strong><\/p>\n
