Poem 128 of 230:\u00a0 SKY VIEWS – AUTUMN 2000<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
From a council-flat in Bury,<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 Through a wide window, I see –<\/p>\n
Landing on neighbouring tiles –<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 Some starlings, pied wagtails,<\/p>\n
The hop of magpie and sparrow;<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 And hear geese bark as they go.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
A fancier\u2019s pigeons circle,<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 While a white flock of gull<\/p>\n
Play the wind in a dark grey sky –<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 The contrast catching my eye;<\/p>\n
As does the arc of a rainbow –<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 With sun and rain toe-to-toe.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Quiet thought turns to Constables,<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 As the wide-glass enables<\/p>\n
Broad views of strong cumulus sky –<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 Changing shape as time goes by;<\/p>\n
And – with moors, too, in the background –<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 It begs a brief lounge around.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
