Thursday Night\u2019s Eagles Home Opener Had A Little Something for Everyone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No, no. Former Eagles running backs Ricky (Watters) and Charlie (Garner) aren\u2019t making a comeback<\/a>. The Eagles opening contest on the quest for NFL historical greatness began in bizarre fashion. But at least\u200a\u2014\u200athis game had something for everyone and we found out a little more about these 2025 Eagles. We also found out that aerial assaults of human sputum<\/a> prior to one offensive play being run is counterproductive, Saquon Barkley may<\/a> be a year older but is still virtually unstoppable, raising<\/a> the championship banner never gets old, and extended lightening delays are great for re-filling your chili fries\u200a\u2014\u200aeven at midnight.<\/p>\n

And of course\u200a\u2014\u200athose Cowboys are still the <\/strong>Cowboys<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did defensive tackle Jalen Carter\u200a\u2014\u200aafter a full game of being double-teamed and beaten about by the Cowboys offensive line finally succumbed to the emotion of a full game and sent a flying saliva deposit that landed on Dak Prescott causing an ejection that propelled his team to triumph? Nope\u200a\u2014\u200ayou aren\u2019t living in a dreamland\u200a\u2014\u200athat scenario played itself out without one offensive snap elapsing in the 2025 NFL Season<\/a> as his teammate Brian VanSumeren<\/a> writhed in pain on the Lincoln Financial Field turf. Hopefully\u200a\u2014\u200athis season is not over for both.<\/p>\n

The Eagles opened the night on offense with a combination of the legs of Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley<\/a>, and Will Shipley<\/a>\u200a\u2014\u200athe latter of whom is well on his way to becoming yet another reliable weapon in the Eagles arsenal. The game would end in much the same way relying on Hurts and Barkley to spearhead the Eagles offense<\/a>. And Barkley\u200a\u2014\u200awhether powering off left tackle or making incredible one-handed catches in the open field<\/a>\u200a\u2014\u200ais as good as ever.<\/p>\n

And as if another historic moment was needed\u200a\u2014\u200awith 4:44 left in the third quarter\u200a\u2014\u200athe first Eagles Game ever was suspended due to lightening<\/a>. You read correctly\u200a\u2014\u200awe\u2019ve seen ice games, blinding blizzards, mud-filled Championship Games<\/a>. We\u2019ve seen games turn into a Bounty Bowl<\/a>, our team combine during war-time with the Steelers<\/a>. We\u2019ve even seen snowballs assaulting Santa and Duracell battery packed ice balls attempt<\/a> to adjust Jimmy Johnson\u2019s hair against these very same Cowboys. But we\u2019ve never<\/a> seen a 65-minute intermission that ended a game after midnight. All of Philly was moving slowly on Friday morning<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And then there is backup Cowboys running back Miles Sanders\u200a<\/a>\u2014\u200awhose outrage at a lack of touches in Super Bowl<\/a> LVII propelled him in part to separate from<\/a> a franchise that is now the finest<\/a> football organization is in the universe\u200a\u2014\u200ahis once prominent role now occupied by his Nittany Lion teammate Saquon Barkley<\/a>. His third quarter fumble\u200a<\/a>\u2014\u200ascooped up by Quinyon Mitchell\u200a\u2014\u200abrought back memories<\/a>. The Eagles defense<\/a> is still a force to be reckoned with\u200a\u2014\u200aeven without Jalen Carter.<\/p>\n

But perhaps the Eagles pulling out the a close game to a division rival was the most lasting facet of Thursday night\u2019s home opener. Miles Sanders and the Cowboys are 0\u20131 \u2014the former once projected<\/a> to be the franchise running back that Philadelphia could have drafted after not being in a positioned to select one Saquon Barkley.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yes\u200a\u2014\u200aAlanis Morissette\u200a\u2014\u200aIsn\u2019t that<\/strong> ironic<\/strong><\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n
