Billed as a psychological horror movie, the feature film Tenement<\/em><\/strong> could be competing for Best International Feature at the 98th Academy Awards<\/strong> next year, Variety reports.<\/a><\/p>\n Directed by Inrasothythep Neth<\/strong> and Sokyou Chea<\/strong>, Tenement<\/em> is Cambodia\u2019s official submission for the category. How this works is that each non-U.S. country is allowed to submit just *one* movie for potential Oscar consideration. That list of submissions is then whittled down by members of the Academy, who ultimately select the films that will compete for the award.<\/p>\n That shortlist will be announced on December 16, Variety notes in today\u2019s report, and the final five nominees in the Best International Feature category will be announced January 22.<\/p>\n So what is the Cambodian-made Tenement<\/em> about, you ask?\u00a0\u201cThe film is set within a decaying Khmer Rouge\u2013era tenement in Phnom Penh.
