I can\u2019t say I speak my native language as often as I speak English, but when I spoke it that day to greet Emeline\u2026 I made sure to put some love in that.<br>She reacted instantly and with a smile and a nod of approval from the R&amp;B Queen herself, I was immortalized with this picture. Alongside me, Sejoe, one of the greatest Haitian comics of our generation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Emeline Michel<\/strong>, born in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gona%C3%AFves\">Gona\u00efves<\/a>, is a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Haiti\">Haitian<\/a>singer who has been called \u201cThe Joni Mitchell of Haiti.\u201d Her songs merge native Haitian&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Compas\">compas<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rara\">rara<\/a>&nbsp;music with jazz, pop, bossa nova, and samba.
