An animated music video for “Shooting Star” (“Hokiboshi”), the ending theme song for the Summer 2026 anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess, has been released on the Rokudenashi music project’s YouTube channel.
The animation follows an artist as she struggles with a painting, with a translucent figure born from a shooting star playing a role in the story. Havtza, whose past credits include eve’s “Iolite” music video, Keina Suda’s “Mellow” music video, and YOASOBI’s “New Me” music video, was in charge of the direction, storyboards, and character designs.
Some of the other staff include background art director Aster and compositor and editor Toshitaka Kanda (Sore o Ai to Yobu dake music video). Studio Harutonari handled the animation production.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess began airing on July 12, with the Ninzin-performed “Shooting Star” being released digitally on July 15. The TV anime is an adaptation of the light novel series written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by Kana Yuki, with Crunchyroll’s synopsis for the show being:
In the Kingdom of Ei, five clans put forth their maidens as imperial consorts—but only one will be crowned empress. Just when frail and beautiful “court butterfly” Kou Reirin seems poised to marry the crown prince, jealous “court rat” Shu Keigetsu steals her body! Reirin wakes up in the dungeons as the conspirator, and things look dire…or do they? Now that she’s got a robust new body, not even the looming threat of execution can stop her!
