PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two people were injured, including a child, after flames ripped through a home in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
Firefighters responded just before 10 p.m. to the unit block of South 55th Street, where witnesses reported heavy flames coming from the first floor of a home.
Residents on the block said they heard a woman screaming from a second-floor window that her child was trapped inside.
The child was rescued and taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
Officials say a second person who was injured was also hospitalized in stable condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
