Japanese pop duo Ikimonogakari’s latest single “Goodbye Lara” is now available on multiple music streaming platforms worldwide. The single serves as the main opening theme song for the currently airing Goodbye, Lara TV anime series.
An official music video for “Goodbye Lara” was also released.
Ikimonogakari is marking their 20th anniversary since their first major label debut song “SAKURA” was released in Japan in 2006. The duo’s 11th and latest album, Asobi, was released on April 30, 2025. They went on a nationwide arena tour in Japan in June 2025 and headlined the second day of WONDERLIVET 2025 the following October.
Goodbye, Lara features animation production from Kinema Citrus and began broadcasting in Japan on July 5, 2026. The original anime series was first announced at Anime Central 2024 and was produced to mark Kinema Citrus’ 15th anniversary.
The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll in select countries and territories worldwide. It describes the main synopsis as:
Once upon a time, a mermaid princess named Lara fell in love with a human prince. To be with him, she used a witch’s potion to become human—but the magic came at a cost: If she failed to find true love, she would vanish into sea foam forever. Now, 200 years later, Lara awakens in Lake Biwa with one final chance at life and love.
