The Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat TV anime adaptation has received its first trailer and a teaser visual, along with a January 2027 broadcast start window.
The credits reveal Anna Nagase to be the voice of the young vampire protagonist Mercedes Grunewald, a reincarnated individual who becomes a dungeon-crawling Seeker to earn money. Kunihisa Sugishima (I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Season 2, Battle Spirits: Shounen Toppa Bashin) is directing the anime at Teddy.

Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat (Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes) is based on the light novels written by Fire head and illustrated by KeG. J-Novel Club describes the books’ synopsis as such:
Reincarnated as a vampire to a noble father and his shunned concubine, Mercedes Grunewald has always known that one day, her father will choose an heir that isn’t her. But what will become of her family when that time comes? Her mother has no skills, their maid is old, and Mercedes is but a small child. How will they survive in the world on their own? Luckily, dungeon crawling is a job that anyone can do—even a child. To provide for her family, Mercedes begins training at the age of a kindergartener, and because she’s from a nation of vampires, she fortunately has the potential to become strong. In her past life, she died unfulfilled, but that won’t be her fate this time. In the dungeons, she’s determined to find something that will make her moon full.
The light novels began in 2021 under publisher TO Books. Its fifth volume was released on the same date as the anime’s latest reveals.
Mercedes and the Waning Moon was previously a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel that debuted in 2018. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation from Pochi Edoya.
