The official X/Twitter account and website of the Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken anime series have released a commemorative visual for the anime’s second cour. The upcoming second cour will premiere in Japan sometime in 2027.
The visual features the main protagonist, Kenshiro, and Rei striking a battle pose back-to-back.

Hiroshi Maeda (Genesis of Aquarion compositing director) is directing the 2026 Fist of the North Star anime series, with Kazuhiko Inukai (Bakugan: Armored Alliance) as series composer, Kazuma Ogasawara as assistant director, Naoki Hisatsune (Magic Kaito 2010 sub-character designer) as character designer, Koji (written in katakana) as animation director, and Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as music composer. TMS Entertainment is handling the animation production, with NIA Animation and Kishida Studio BACU credited with the production cooperation/CG production.

Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken is the latest anime adaptation of the post-apocalyptic manga series (known simply as Hokuto no Ken or Fist of the North Star) written by Buronson and drawn by Tetsuo Hara. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from September 13, 1983 to August 8, 1988. A total of 27 tankobon volumes were published in Japan. VIZ Media released the manga in English in hardcover format under its VIZ Signature imprint.
The manga previously inspired two TV anime series and an anime film in the 1980s. A new series made up of OVAs and films was released between 2006 and 2008 with five installments. Other media include a 1995 live-action film, a stage play, and video games.
A novel titled Hokuto no Ken: Jubaku no Machi was published in 1996 and received a 2003-2004 three-episode OVA adaptation titled New Fist of the North Star.
A motion comic adaptation of the Elegy for the Henchmen: Fist of the North Star gag manga spin-off, titled Fist of the North Star: Elegy of Ken-Oh’s Army Grunts, was released in January 2026 and returned with a second cour on July 6, 2026.

Amazon’s Prime Video service licensed the new Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken anime for streaming in select countries and territories worldwide. It describes the main premise as:
