Is London calling for Ghostface?
According to a rumour from several reliable sources, that’s where the Scream franchise is heading for its eighth instalment.
In the seventh entry, we were re-introduced to series lead Sidney Prescott, and saw her idyllic life in small-town America upended by a new swath of Ghostface killings.
After making $217 million at the worldwide box-office, a sequel to Scream 7 seemed inevitable. As we’ve reported, Scream 8 entered development shortly after the seventh’s premiere, with Nora and Lila Zuckerman attached to pen the script.
Although still officially said to be in “early” development, several rumours have suggested Scream 8 is moving faster than reported.
With an early draft of the script purported to exist, the latest nugget we’re hearing is that Scream 8 will be heading for the bright lights of London.
According to a reliable source, the movie will take place around a “central location” in England’s capital city.
If true, this will mark the first time a Scream film has taken place outside of the United States.
Further rumours suggest that star Neve Campbell will lead the movie, alongside fellow returnees Courteney Cox and Isabel May.
How and why the characters end up in London is still a mystery, but it’s certainly a unique approach to Scream.
With everything still shrouded in secrecy, we likely won’t know anything for sure for some time yet. However, Ghostface across the pond? We’d like to see that!
We’ll keep you updated on all things Scream related and let you know how the eighth instalment progresses.
