Beyond the System Theatrical Anime Film in Production

A Solo Leveling theatrical anime film titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System has been announced to be in production. The announcement was made during Crunchyroll’s showcase panel at this year’s Anime Expo, in collaboration with Aniplex. 

A-1 Pictures will return to work on the animation production for Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, after being involved with the first two seasons. Crunchyroll is co-producing the project alongside Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, and Kakao Piccoma. Additional details on the film’s premiere date and staff were not revealed, as of the time of writing. 

A teaser key visual featuring protagonist Sung Jin-woo has also been released.

An English-subtitled “companion concept” video (which may be region-locked in some areas) for the anime film also accompanied the release of the visual.   

Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will serve as a direct continuation of the TV anime series, following the events of the second season Arise from the Shadows

The first season of Solo Leveling aired in Japan on January 6, 2024 and ended on March 31, 2024 with 12 total episodes. The second season, Arise from the Shadow, aired from January 5, 2025 to March 30, 2025 for a total of 13 episodes. 

A compilation film titled Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- was also released in Japan from November 29, 2024 to December 12, 2024 and in North America on December 6, 2024. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast stars Taito Ban as Sung Jin-woo and Reina Ueda as Cha hae-in. 

The original 2016 South Korean web novel written by Chugong and illustrated by the late Dubu (Redice Studio), which released a total of 13 volumes and a side story. A webtoon manhwa illustrated by the latter was released afterwards in 2018, with 15 volumes being published as of October 2025. H-Goon later took over the series’ webtoon adaptation in the latest volumes being published in Japan after Dubu’s passing. Yen Press has published both the web novel and webtoon in English print.

Crunchyroll is streaming the Solo Leveling anime series worldwide, along with bilibili and Netflix. The former describes the main premise as: 

They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.
