Despite the Buffy reboot being cancelled, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has managed to make a triumphant return to the genre fold.

First came her unexpected cameo in 2025’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, which was soon followed by a starring role in Radio Silence’s Ready or Not 2.

Now, Gellar is set to team up with Radio Silence again in Thud.

Radio Silence will be producing this time around, whilst Mali Elfman directs, from a script by Noga Pnueli.

Described as a “supernatural romance,” according to an official logline:
“Thud watches as the Grim Reaper and the Devil meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event, where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos.”

According to official sources, Gellar is set to portray the Grim Reaper, whilst Outer Banks star Rudy Pankow plays the Devil.

Already a prolific horror film producer, Mali Elfman makes her feature debut with Thud.

Production will begin soon in Los Angeles, with more casting announcements expected shortly.

So, despite not being able to bring Buffy back to us, Sarah Michelle Gellar is working hard to embrace her scream queen legacy with other roles.
